HOW (NOT) TO: Annoy People on Twitter:

There’s no denying that Twitter’s usefulness is growing — fromjournalists looking for leads to actors putting on productions ofRomeo & Juliet, everyone seems to be getting wise to the microblogging site’s potential.

Still, sometimes the urge to shout one’s barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world can overshadow a little something we call “foresight,” leading to the dreaded and ever-so-annoying overshare.

In its most extreme form, the overshare can lead to, well, police involvement (tweeting about your desire to blow up an airport is probably not recommended).

Still, cops and whatnot aside, tweeting with glorious abandon can, ultimately, alienate and annoy your followers. That’s the topic of my most recent CNN column, which I co-author with fellow Stuff Hipsters Hateblogger, Andrea Bartz.

QR Codes!

QR Codes!

Come on you know you are obsessed with those crazy cute QR Codes! I mean just look at them, all square…like insanely giant steroid versions of tiny salt grains, and so neatly packed with tons of info!! Who wouldn’t want to go nuts using QR Codes? Although these amazing blocks of fun have been around for a while they are just now catching on, and in a big way.

What? I’m sorry, what did you say? You don’t know what a QR Code is.  Oh, ah, well that’s ok. No no, it’s not awkward or anything…really.

Ok, a QR Code is a scannable cube of information which you or someone else, like a business, encrypts, then they are scanned with a smart phone to reveal the information hidden iside. Kind of like a high tech treasure hunt!  Yes, you will need to download the app for your phone. What? Um, no I can’t do that for you, take your big girl/boy pill and deal. The app can be easily downloaded, just do a quick Google search. So the idea with these codes is to pass along information such as dates, times, places, schedules, business cards etc. as quickly and efficiently as possibly. The gathered information then automatically  gets added to the correct location in your phone, (i.e. ‘new contact,’ ‘calendar,’ and so on.) No more lost pieces of scrap paper or stacks of business cards that you haven’t had time to add to your phone (and really aren’t looking forward to either).

One company embracing this ease of info sharing is SaltSquares. A revolutionary new start up basing their entire model on using codes for every single transaction they and their clients make! This is a local company doing their part to help  a saggy Detroit economy by assisting business owners to spend less on advertising, reach more people faster, and get the  return they are looking for. You can visit SaltSquares at www.saltsquares.com to learn more about this forward thinking company.

And for all those eco-friendly people out there doing their part, SaltSquares is a completely, 100% paper free and eco-loving company!
